You’ve made it through the hustle and bustle of the holidays, and finally have some time to relax. The New Year brings a fresh start – and that also applies to your FSA.
If you’re new to the world of FSAs, you might not realize just how many products and services are FSA eligible. Your FSA can cover:
Health Care Products
- First aid kits
- Huggies underpants
- Breast pumps & accessories
- Blood pressure monitors
- Contact solution, eye drops, glasses
- Band-Aids & bandages
- Hot-cold therapy
- Heart Rate Monitors
- Home defibrillator
- Athletic bandages/wraps
- Shoe inserts
- Neti pots and steam vaporizers
- Rx items: Advil, acne treatments, antacids
FSA OK vs. Rx products
You can buy many FSA eligible products that do not require a prescription. However, since 2011, certain over-the-counter medicines require a prescription for reimbursement.
Visits to health care providers
Aside from products, your FSA can also cover doctor’s visits. For instance, this could include certain dental care, vision care, and visits to dermatologists and alternative medicine such as acupuncture or chiropractic aid.
All services performed by health care providers must be medically necessary.

Care for your Dependents
A dependent care FSA can cover child & adult daycare, nannies or babysitters, elderly care, after or before-school care, and care for disabled dependents incapable of taking care of themselves.
